Question by Dyuo: Which home theater audio system should I buy?
I am looking to buy a home theater audio system and my budget is around $ 1000. Which one should I get? Is there a credible website that has a buyers guide/reviews of home theater audio systems?

Best answer:

Answer by Jasper
looks like they have some in your price range with full reviews for several systems.

http://www.audioholics.com/buying-guides/system-buying-guides/

heres something from my own experience.
if the system that you buy does not come with all the cables you need goto this site to buy cables:
www.monoprice.com
i havent found cable for cheaper anywhere else and i am very happy with what i have gotten from them.
i got:
3 – 50 foot rolls of speaker cable
2 – 6 foot optical/TOSLINK cables
2 – 6 foor HDMI cables
7(sets) – banana plugs (i have a 7.1 system)
all of these cables came to me quickly and are high quality cables.
i don’t work for this company but am definitely a fan of their site.

Question by Carl_D: what is the best home theater audio setup for a 200 square foot room and playing movies, music, and karaoke?
I have a 200-215 square foot room and I am shopping for a home theater audio setup. I plan to buy: 1) Amplifier/receiver
2) DVD player
3) Speakers 5.1

I am looking for system that is capable of playing HD movies surround sound and karaoke. So far I am considering Samsung, Sony, and Bose. But I am not sure if they are capable of karaoke. Any advice on making a great home theater?

Best answer:

Answer by R
Hi,

Looks like you have many high expectations… especially with needing a good Karaoke system.
For HT – it’s easy, as lots of systems will do a good job.
But as far as Karaoke — this is a demanding task for any HT system – at least to do it well, it is a hard task.
IMO, any of Bose’s consumer line speakers will not be sufficient – especially for music and karaoke – in that size of area.
My best suggestion is to look at Klipsch’s Reference series speakers: towers. I know you may not think that towers the most wonderful to compliment a room – but for the size of your room and the need for it to do Karaoke – I’d go with those. Reference62: http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/rf-62-overview/
The Reference series is very efficient speakers – that handle alot of power… while they are loud, they are also accurate when powered well + I think they provide very warm sounding vocals… but these reference series can be expensive. You can also check out the Synergy series – which is at a better price point. Klipsch also makes bookshelf style: check these out: http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/rb-81-overview/
… then of course you need a decent reciever. I’d go with a mid level Yamaha or Onkyo.
DVD player: – Samsung :http://www.samsung.com/in/consumer/tv-audio-video/dvd-player/standard-dvd-player/DVD-P192/XTL/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&returnurl=

Good LUck! hope this helps:)

Question by gman: Main components for home audio system?
I want to build a simple home audio system. What are all the components I need to output to headphones? I just wanna play CDs through it. What kind of headphone ampifier should I use?

Best answer:

Answer by Dances with cats
A receiver – one with a headphone output. Just about any quality receiver will have one. I can’t imagine that you’ll never want to hook up speakers to it. However running it with only headphones will not hurt anything. Of course a CD player will be necessary too. Get something of quality so you won’t have to replace it in a few years and the sound quality will be good. Marantz, Onkyo, Pioneer, Denon Yamaha. Don’t get an off the shelf system from Walmart or a really cheap one from somewhere else. You’ll be able to listen to the radio too as well as hook up other components to it if the urge strikes you. You might want to get one with a phono input in case you get bit by the vinyl bug.
